#HappyHangouts: Chantelle Colalancia of 'Be Kind Nutrition'

 I LOVE this woman! Not only is Chantelle an amazing Clinical Nutritionist, she is beautiful inside and out, inspiring to many. Gentle, kind and just a truly honest human being. Chantelle is so passionate about educating and empowering woman (and men) to understand that beauty starts from believing that you are! I have been lucky enough to have known this beauty for over 10 years, and when I asked if I could interview her to share her words with you, she accepted without an ounce of hesitation. I want you to get to know her like I do, so check out my interview with her below.

Tell us a little about yourself.

Sup Lunch Jars. My names Chantelle, I'm 25 live in little old Adelaide and I'm passionate about all things food and fitness related and how we can incorporate a health mind in our day to day lives. I've just recently graduated with a bachelor degree as a clinical nutritionist. And hoping to begin my postgraduate degree next year in clinical psychology! 

 

 

Who or what inspired you to become a clinical nutritionist?

My journey to becoming a nutritionist was a long emotional but rewarding journey. It stemmed from a poor unhealthy relationship that created negative and unkind thoughts in my head that turned in to disordered eating habits, anxiety and depression and excessive gym routines. After returning from an overseas trip, which helped clean my mind I began doing research about my own health issues and why in society today we correlate health/ eating with the physical/ exterior perception of our bodies. So I applied for the bachelor of health science (nutritional medicine) to start my educational journey.

 

What’s your proudest moment or achievement to date?

I think completing this health science degree is one of them for sure! But I think most importantly overcoming my dark days of suffering with anxiety and depression and being comfortable enough to talk about it and be an advocate for those who are suffering with accepting and loving their bodies.

 

What’s your food philosophy?

Listen to your body. Be aware of your emotions and how you feel. Everything in moderation. 

Restrictive eating has its flaws. 

 

What do you want women to take from your coaching sessions?

I want to encourage women (and men) that they have the power to educate and encourage themselves. I'm all about educating people. Not telling them what to do. I want my clients to feel empowered! And most of all, just be at peace with accepting who they are and acknowledging their emotions in certain stages of their lives. 

Listen to your body. Be aware of your emotions and how you feel.

Best advice you have ever been given?

"The foods you choose to eat do not reflect your value or self worth as a person" 

 

If you had to choose, what would be your top 3 ‘can’t live without’ foods?

Coconut Milk

Eggs

Sorry I can't choose but (ALL fruits and veg!) 

 

Describe your day on a plate?

Oats, eggs, salad mixes, chicken, vegetables, fish, protein bliss balls and fruit 

 

What’s your favourite way to get moving?

I'm all about functional training! I love a good boxing class, if not that starting my day off with a hike/ walk outside (Morialta/ Lofty) really sets my mind in a healthy place for the day!
